Instead of scrolling through photos from your recent trip, Jose Naranja I (previously) relive my travels through highly detailed sketchbooks of notes, illustrations, and ephemeral things I collect during my visits. This artist and author is an avid tourist and avid observer, filling the blank Moleskine pages with airplanes, movie characters and maps in watercolor and ink. Like most of us, Naranja has been unable to travel for most of the last few years, but he has resumed his adventures and is frequenting Thailand and other parts of Asia, which is his latest reflected in the spread.
Currently, Naranja is working on an experimental illustrated oracle deck imagining the year 2050 through the lens of science, art and philosophy, all with his signature fantastical approach. the artist’s latest book, nautilus manuscriptis available now and you can follow him for updates on his work.
