A vibrant multi-purpose park in Chorzów, Poland highlights play possibilities.Designed by a design office SLAS‘Activity Zones’ are vast concrete spaces perforated with myriad shapes and structures, each with its own function. Playgrounds and fitness facilities are interspersed among green spaces, including well-organized ball courts, seating, and existing large trees. With an emphasis on accessibility, the studio chose concrete as the main material to facilitate mobility for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility.
The ‘Activity Zone’ will form the first phase of an integrated initiative between the University of Silesia and the city of Chorzów to redevelop the former military stronghold into a more welcoming space while building links with the academic world and the local community.
