Selected works by multidisciplinary artists Larissa de Jesus Negron. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, the Negron process has a profound healing effect. Driven by introspection and self-discovery, and an interest in how to process psychological trauma, Negron experiments with a variety of materials to explore existential issues and subconscious curiosity. She exercises automatism (performing actions without conscious thought or intention) to access humorous and poignant life moments and memories.
“Negron tells the most intimate stories through her work. They require vulnerability, yet these personal memories act as a cathartic way to connect with people. In her work we find mundane moments of inadequacy, fear, doubt, nostalgia and anxiety, but also mundane moments of happiness, goofiness and excitement that have left their mark on her psyche. It is living/working with intention, a practice that is inherently difficult and sometimes impractical, but essential for improving the quality of life.”
